ORC Optimal Design through Clusterization for Waste Heat Recovery in Anaerobic Digestion Plants

چکیده
Waste heat recovery (WHR) systems through organic rankine cycles (ORCs) in anaerobic digestion plants may improve cogeneration efficiency. Cogeneration unit power output, flue gas temperature, and mass flow rate are not constant during the day, thermal load requested by digesters shows seasonal variations. For this reason, a proper design of ORC is required. In study, methodology proposed, based on clustering boundary conditions expected one year operation plant operation. The Optimal Evaporation Temperature of Subcritical ORC Based on Second Law Efficiency for Waste Heat Recovery
The subcritical Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) with 28 working fluids for waste heat recovery is discussed in this paper. The effects of the temperature of the waste heat, the critical temperature of working fluids and the pinch temperature difference in the evaporator on the optimal evaporation temperature (OET) of the ORC have been investigated. The second law efficiency of the system is regarde...
متن کاملAnaerobic Digestion of Vegetable Waste
Fruit and vegetable wastes are produced in large quantities in Iran, and constitute a source of nuisance in municipal landfills. The objective of this study was to optimize the applications of anaerobic digestion for the treatment of municipal organic wastes. We studied the effect of organic loading rates on anaerobic digestion of vegetable wastes. The complete-mix, pilot-scale digester with wo...
متن کاملDynamic modeling and simulation of an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) system for waste heat recovery
The paper proposes two alternative approaches for the design of a dynamic model for an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) to be used for the design of control and diagnostics systems. The model has been developed in Modelica language and simulated with Dymola. The two modeling approaches, based on moving boundary and discretization techniques, are compared in terms of accuracy, complexity and simulati...
متن کاملAn algorithm for optimal waste heat recovery from chemical processes
We describe a computer algorithm designed to calculate the optimal energy extraction in the form of heat used for steam raising from chemical processes. The concepts are illustrated using chemical plant stream data in a process with multiple distillation columns. Pinch analysis is first applied to find the grand composite curve (GCC) of the problem, which is then used by the algorithm to determ...
